Amit Pitaru

Artist, Programmer, Musician and Educator

As a programmer and artist, he develops custom-made software music instruments. He has exhibited at London Design Museum, Paris Pompidou Center, Sundance Film Festival, Israel National Art Gallery, ICC and others. Amit is a professional musician and which works extend to experimental art, research, education and advertising projects.

As a central theme of Amit's work, he pays keen attention to user experience, especially to how technologies complement (or collide) with human interest, ability, and imagination.

Amit recieved support from the MacArther Foundation and helped record about "Software and Game Used Everyday for Children and Disabled People", which was published by the MIT Press.

As an educator, Amit develops a curriculum that connects creative thinking and technology. He teachs at the New York University College of Art, Interactive Telecommunications Program, School of Visual Arts (SVA) and Cooper Union.

In addition, he also frequently hosts the Kichen Table Coders project in New York Brooklyn, creating workshops where students can learn programming from artists.
